ALTAIR SIGNATURE speakers (NEW).  Bound For Sound magazine's Martin De Wulf says "The Altair is a serious Hi End speaker system that has the rare ability of combining speed, extension, power and imaging." Audiotechnique magazine says "The Altair presents an extraordinary three-dimensional sonic effect which draws the listener into the music. This is High End."  The Abso!ute Sound called the original Altair "A legitimate high end Best Buy."  You now have the opportunity to own one of the most phenomenal speaker systems ever produced!  We have only two pair of Altair Signature systems available.  Each set has been personally hand-assembled and fine tuned by the speaker's designer, Barry Kohan, President and chief designer and engineer of Bright Star Audio.  

The Altair Signature utilizes a unique pyramid shaped cabinet that minimizes standing waves and diffraction.  All internal walls are lined with high-density polymers, polymer adhesives (developed for our Reference Series) and multiple layers of Bright Star's proprietary damping compound to virtually eliminate cabinet resonance.  The 1" aluminum/ceramic dome tweeter and the 5" ceramic coated midrange are mounted from behind the front baffle to accomplish the most diffraction free mounting scheme possible.  The baffle is open to the rear to allow a Dynamic Dipole Radiation for the midrange, allowing it to to act as real musical instrument would do - sending sound from both the front and rear of the speaker position.  The rear mounted round ribbon tweeter combines with the front tweeter to complete the dipole array.  A 10" carbon fiber/polypropylene long-throw woofer is mounted in a chamber that has no parallel walls which minimizes internal standing waves.  Crossovers feature TARA Labs Space & Time Phase II wire, 400 volt metalized polypropylene and 600 volt polystyrene capacitors, air core inductors, high wattage resistors, point-to-point wiring with silver solder, star grounding, impedence compensation networks and vibration damping compound.  All components are hand matched to 1% tolerances.  To complete the system, we include the Altair EFC-Electronic Foundation Control module.  This electronic processor connects between the the preamp and amp or in the external processor loop of a component.  The EFC has been specifically designed for the Altair by Walt Jung, the world-class electronics engineer, to extend and align the extremely deep bass the Altair is able to reproduce.  

Included with the speakers are Gibraltar speaker stands designed for the Altair Signature speakers.  This extremely strong and rigid stand is manufactured to same exacting standards as our top-rated Rack Of Gibraltar equipment racks.  The speakers and stands are finished in our beautiful White Granite* non-resonant coating.

ALTAIR REFERENCE speakers (DEMO). 
Voted one of The Magnificent Seven - Best Sound at the Show by Stereophile at CES '95.  Each 175lb speaker has hollow cabinet walls that have been filled with sand for one of the most inert and resonance-free structures in the industry!  Each cabinet has two 8" ceramic coated semi-dipole woofers (in individual non-parallel wall subenclosures), two ceramic coated 5" dipole midranges in D'Appolitto arrangement around a 1" ceramic/aluminum front tweeter, 1.5" round ribbon rear tweeter.  Crossover features TARA Labs Space & Time Phase II wire, 400 volt metalized polypropylene and 600 volt polystyrene capacitors, air core inductors, high wattage resistors, point-to-point wiring with silver solder, star grounding, impedence compensation networks, all components hand matched to 1% tolerances.  Must be bi-amped.  Supplied with EFC Electronic Foundation Control unit.  Luaun Rosewood side panels. All returns are subject to the following fees:

Shipping costs incurred by Bright Star Audio
will be deducted from the original purchase amount on all items returned. 
This also applies to units that had shipping included in the original purchase price
except for IsoNode feet shipped to the U.S. and Canada.

A 15% restocking fee will be deducted
from the original purchase amount for any returned item
including those that have been set up, used, damaged or returned
without all of the original parts and packaging.
Items must be returned within 30 days.
Items shipped or sold to destinations outside of
the United States and Canada are not returnable.

Custom units and all speaker parts are not returnable.

*Black Granite is a spray-on coating that has a texture like rough stone.
